The Amazon Basin has many rivers, including the Amazon River which is the second largest river in the world, extending across seven countries in South America, including 15,500 km of waterways in Brazil.
It is in this region that we also find the largest concentration of riverside people. ‘Ribeirinhos’ are a people group who traditionally live on the banks of the Amazon river and whose lives are deeply integrated into the flood and drought cycles of the river. Most live a significant distance from the city and remain in geographical isolation their entire lives. It is estimated that there are 10,000 Ribeirinho communities without any Christian presence, representing roughly 1 million unreached people. Our goal is to reach those people with the gospel—the ones who do not even have access to a local church.
Join us as we reach these isolated communities with God’s Word. Together, we will bring Esperança (Hope) and Faísca (Spark) magazines along the shores of the Amazon River.
