Millions of Canadians are thirsty.

In John 4, we’re told about a conversation Jesus had with a woman in Samaria. He was on His way to Galilee and stopped for a rest, hoping for a drink. That’s when the woman showed up—a complete stranger whose path ended up intersecting His in the middle of the day, both of them needing water.

But that ordinary moment turned into something special. By the end of the day, the woman had become a Jesus follower! And she’d also brought others from her town to hear what Jesus had to say. The ripple effects were almost instantaneous.

How did that happen? How did a seemingly random encounter end up turning into a village full of changed lives?  It happened because of a simple but powerful reality that still exists today: people are thirsty for the kind of hope, truth, and love of Jesus that you’ve experienced and that you can share with them.

You’ve probably noticed that thirst in people around you. You’ve seen it in their eyes. Canadians are hurting and lonely. They’re tired of searching, tired of feeling so unsatisfied with life. But they don’t know where to turn or how to solve the problem.

For many people, an even deeper darkness floods their hearts. They can’t figure out how to stop the pain, so why not end the pain once and for all? The statistics around suicide are heartbreaking:

  • More than 5,800 Canadian children and youth have died by suicide during the past 13 years across Canada. (Toronto Star, September 14, 2018)
  • In 2015, suicide claimed the lives of 3,269 Canadian men and 1,136 women. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for men aged 15 to 44 years. (Statistics Canada)
  • A recent study by the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics found that the rate of women who die by suicide increased by 50% between 2000 and 2016 (21% increase for men).

In the midst of all those statistics are real people who are thirsty for hope—and the good news is that you can offer those people what they’re looking for!

You can offer people the living water today. Every $50 gift means at least ten people will be given an opportunity to discover the hope Jesus offers in the pages of God’s Word. Those ten people will impact the lives around them, causing ripples of change for generations.

The Need

Millions of Canadians are thirsty. Not physically, but deep in their hearts. They're looking for hope. For light. For some meaning in their lives. You can meet them where they're at and offer them the only thing that will satisfy their longings—forever!
