About the campaign

My name is Selah Huygen, and I am thrilled to be participating in a Gospel Outreach (“GO”) Trip to Brazil with ShareWord Global.

Our goal is simple yet profound: to share the hope of the gospel to every corner of the world. We do that by mobilizing local churches—our brothers and sisters in the faith—to join us in sharing the life-giving gospel of Jesus Christ with Scripture, to the people around them. We empower local churches through training, resources, outreach opportunities and a community of like-minded evangelists to support and encourage them.

As I prepare for this incredible journey, I am humbled by the opportunity to be an instrument of change and a vessel of God's love. Together, we can make an eternal impact, touching hearts and transforming lives through the love of God.

This missions trip means so much to me. In High School I never imagined myself being granted so many opportunities to not only grow in my faith but also bring others towards Jesus.

Applying to university was a stressful time, I had no idea where to go and I tried to take matters into my own hands. God, however, had a different plan for my life. This one involved me leaving my home in Alberta and travelling 4,000 km away to Redeemer University.

The first semester brought so many opportunities, but I was still homesick. However, when second semester rolled around, my roommate Julia and friend Evan brought up that they were leading a missions trip to Brazil. I thought that it sounded fun, but there was no way that I could afford that trip. Once again, God had other plans for my life. Before I knew it I was creating my fundraising page for Brazil and attending meetings to prepare for this trip. And then flying to a whole new continent to share the Gospel with people I have never met.

God really showed me last year that you can try and plan your life so much, but when He has a plan for you it is always perfect and rewarding. This year, I thought Brazil was behind me. I was excited to go on the trip, but I was also stressed about school and not really thinking too much about it. It wasn't until my friend Evan came up to me, literally a couple seconds after I was thinking about the trip. He said: how would you feel about co-leading this trip with me? At this moment all the worries and stresses about school and the trip went away. I knew, once again, that I was trying to take matters into my own hands instead of trusting God with my life.

I am very blessed to be in a school like Redeemer, where I can feel God moving in my life everyday. Just like my favorite verse says, Jeremiah 29:11,

"'For I know the plans I have for you' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.'".

I am eternally grateful for this opportunity and I am very excited to start planning. Anything that you can give means so much to me, even your thoughts and prayers.
