About the campaign

My name is Gerrit Johnston, and I am thrilled to be participating in a Gospel Outreach (“GO”) Trip to Brazil with ShareWord Global.

Our goal is simple yet profound: to share the hope of the gospel to every corner of the world. We do that by mobilizing local churches—our brothers and sisters in the faith—to join us in sharing the life-giving gospel of Jesus Christ with Scripture, to the people around them. We empower local churches through training, resources, outreach opportunities and a community of like-minded evangelists to support and encourage them.

As I prepare for this incredible journey, I am humbled by the opportunity to be an instrument of change and a vessel of God's love. Together, we can make an eternal impact, touching hearts and transforming lives through the love of God.

Thank you for joining me in this journey of faith and outreach, and please consider contributing to this mission that is so close to my heart.

I grew up in a Christian household, and went to Christian elementary, high school, VBS, cadets, and Bible studies with friends. Being raised in a Christian environment, I can't point to a specific point where I accepted God into my life. However, during my first year of high school, I realized that I wanted to deepen my relationship with Him and exemplify Him through my actions, making my faith evident, and making better choices. Taking science classes in school has helped me to deepen my faith by providing evidence that we are here intentionally and are wonderfully made. Looking back on my life, I can see many instances where God was there to guide and protect myself and my family. In 2016, my dad died of a heart attack. God was there working through our entire community to support us in our grief, and guide my brothers and I through life without an earthly father, and my mom through life as a widow. Knowing that I have a heavenly father who cares for and shepherds me has been a point that I come back to all the time. Two years later, my mom married my stepdad and was diagnosed with breast cancer within the following year. I hadn't thought of it much then but I can see it now that He was watching over us then too, working through our church community and the many doctors and nurses who performed her procedures. Thanks to his goodness, she's been cancer-free for over five years. I'm at university now, doing my vest to grow in faith and knowledge of God, eagerly searching for His guidance and wisdom. A passage that stands out to me and helps guide me in how I should live is: James 1:19-21 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Your support not only helps me but also contributes to a greater mission that transcends borders and unites us in our common purpose—spreading the Gospel and changing lives. Together, we can tell the world.
