About the campaign

Hey there! I'm Kaila Pierobon, and I am thrilled to be participating in a Gospel Outreach (“GO”) Trip to Brazil with ShareWord Global.

Our goal is simple yet profound: to share the hope of the gospel to every corner of the world. We do that by mobilizing local churches—our brothers and sisters in the faith—to join us in sharing the life-giving gospel of Jesus Christ with Scripture, to the people around them. We empower local churches through training, resources, outreach opportunities and a community of like-minded evangelists to support and encourage them.

As I prepare for this incredible journey, I am humbled by the opportunity to be an instrument of change and a vessel of God's love. Together, we can make an eternal impact, touching hearts and transforming lives through the love of God.

I was privileged to grow up in a very loving family that never failed to support and care for me, but we faced hardships that deeply hurt me. During a particularly difficult time when I was thirteen, I found myself, for the first time, reading my bible. My family rarely went to church, but I was taught about Jesus from a young age, so I had a strong knowledge base of who Jesus was historically, but I had no idea who he was personally.

It wasn't until I saw my older sister reading her bible that I finally thought to read my own. The more time I spent in God’s word, the deeper my relationship grew with him and the more I desired Him to be in my life and my heart.

When my family moved far from my hometown during the pandemic, it was a season of major change — but in the middle of it all, we found an incredible church. We began attending Sunday service every week, and my sister and I got involved in the youth ministry. It was the mentors I met through my church that helped deepen my faith and broaden my understanding of Christianity.

Though I continued to face struggles in my personal life, the relationship I built with Jesus gave me hope and peace through trials. When I first had the opportunity to attend an information meeting at my school about this mission trip, I was unsure whether I wanted to go. I have always had a passion for missionary work and a desire to serve God and His people in this way. That passion grew even stronger after serving on a mission trip to an Indigenous summer camp in Alberta, Camp Nookoowai, with my youth group.

Although I knew I loved this kind of work, I still felt hesitant after the meeting. Brazil is much farther away than Alberta, and I would not be travelling with the comfort and familiarity of my home church. As I continued to think and pray about this opportunity, I realized I had experienced these same fears before going on the mission trip with my youth group. Even though I was afraid then, I chose to go, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Serving in Alberta changed my life and deepened my faith in ways I never would have expected. It reshaped how I view others and my role as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Through this realization, I sensed that God was calling me out of my comfort zone once again. He was calling me to trust Him in the midst of fear and to have faith in His good and faithful plans.

I am excited to take this step of faith, and despite my worries and doubts, I look forward to seeing how God will move in my life and in the lives of those we will serve. I want to tell others about the God who saved my life; I want to share His character, His love and His gospel so that others can experience the same unconditional love, peace and joy that I have been blessed to receive. I can't imagine my life apart from Jesus, and I want to listen to where God is calling me so that others have the opportunity to know the saviour that changed my life, and I know can change theirs.
