Your Flight Has Been Delayed

You’ve probably been there too—stuck in a crowded airport terminal, watching the clock tick, feeling your frustration rise. Plans unravel. Anxiety builds.

It’s the kind of day no traveler wants.

But for Yerusha, a ShareWord Global staff member returning to the USA from a recent GO Trip to Mozambique—a Gospel Outreach experience where believers partner with the local church to share God’s Word—what looked like a travel disaster became something very different.

Hours dragged on in the humid chaos of Maputo’s airport. Then came the dreaded announcement: the team’s flight was canceled. The next flight wouldn’t leave until morning.

Frustrated voices rose like a storm. Disappointment rippled through the crowd.

As Yerusha waited in line for answers, she noticed a young woman in a flowy black-and-white floral top, thin glasses resting on her nose, and her hair pulled back into a loose ponytail with strands escaping—giving her the unmistakable look of someone who had been traveling for hours, worn-out from the journey yet still, in her own way, quietly composed.

Her name was Rita. As she introduced herself, her voice carried the fatigue of a long day. Yerusha smiled and offered her a Hope magazine, a Scripture resource full of encouraging Bible verses from ShareWord—a simple gesture that opened the door to deeper conversation. Two travelers, stranded by circumstance, suddenly found themselves in the middle of God’s plan.

Later that night, the airline shuttled passengers to a hotel. As Yerusha sat down for dinner, Rita approached and asked to join her. What began as small talk between familiar strangers turned into something more: questions about life, faith, and purpose.

The next morning, as Yerusha and the team ventured back to the airport, they learned of another setback—four more hours of waiting for their new flight.

But what could have felt like wasted time to some became an opportunity for more life-changing conversations with Rita. Yerusha and a few members from the GO Team shared the gospel with clarity and compassion. And in that crowded terminal, Rita bowed her head and prayed to commit her life to Jesus Christ.

What a moment. What a miracle.

And still, the story wasn’t finished.

When they finally reached Angola—the first stop of their connecting flights home—more bad news awaited: every connecting flight to their next stop, Portugal, was gone. Another hotel. Another delay. Another chance. But with those extra hours, Yerusha and the team poured into Rita—four hours of Spirit-led discussions that prepared her for the journey ahead, not just in travel, but in her faith journey.

What seemed like a travel nightmare was really a divine interruption.

This is the heartbeat of a GO Trip—stepping into the unknown to share the gospel and watch God move in extraordinary ways. Because when you go, God will always be there with you, using you to bring His glory into the world.
