Even in the Good
You’ve felt it before—that quiet hunger for something more.
Even when life looks full on the outside, something inside us still aches.
Fernanda saw this in her coworker, Don John.
They had worked together on a pig farm in Chile for a while now, spending long days in the dirt and heat. Their conversations often drifted to family, work, and life—but never God. Don John seemed content. He had a good life: children, grandchildren, a steady job. He often told Fernanda he was doing well.
But something still didn’t sit right with Fernanda.
“He has everything,” she thought, “but he’s missing something.”
That’s when she remembered the Hope magazine tucked away in her desk drawer. She pulled it out and gently began to share it with him.
“God is the most important thing, the first thing in our lives, He is the most important pillar that upholds all things,” she explained.
After voicing these simple words, she openly held out the magazine to her coworker, “It talks about it here.”
Don John opened the pages and paused. Inside was a collection of Psalms—and in an instant, it was as if he was transported back in time. His grandmother used to read those same words to him when he was young. The memories stirred something deep.
Years ago, a seed had been planted. And now, on an ordinary day at the farm, Fernanda was watering that seed—by simply saying yes to the Holy Spirit’s nudge on her heart.
Fernanda was overjoyed. The farm often felt lonely and isolating—long, dirty days with little human connection. But now she saw it differently. She was there for a reason. Because of where she worked, she was able to give hope to a man who needed it.
Because even when someone looks like they have it all together, they still need Jesus.
