The gospel is desperately needed on this beautiful island nation off the coast of India where less than 10% of the population profess to be followers of Christ. The persecution level towards Christians is classified as “very high,” due to the often violent nature of harassment and attacks directed at believers. Converts to Christianity are the most frequent targets of harassment by neighbours and local officials.
Due to their status as a minority, Christians’ access to Bibles and Scripture resources is very limited and affordable, high quality Scripture resources are hard to come by. What little resources believers have access to feels very western, and does not reflect the experience of Sri Lankan life. This presents an additional barrier to evangelism, as Christianity is often recognized as a negative foreign influence on the country. Culturally relevant Bible resources are essential to reaching believers in Sri Lanka.
But the good news is that through a partnership with the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka, the doors are wide open to supporting the local church to reach their nation with the gospel. Pastors are ready to be trained and equipped in evangelism so that thousands of Sri Lankans can come to Christ.
You can make that happen!
