Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and is plagued by demonic activity, devastating weather and political corruption. Though almost all Haitians would identify as Christian, 3 out of 4 believers are also active in voodoo and other forms of unbiblical spirituality. A long history of West African Spiritism and witchcraft has infiltrated orthodox Christian belief, but Haitians just don’t have the resources necessary to separate out the truth from the lies.
Haiti's physical poverty is matched by its Bible poverty. There is a desperate need for Scriptures in the country. People are too poor to buy their own Bibles. Families are often faced with paying a week’s wages for a Bible or putting food on the table for their family. But the only way people are going to be able to stand up to the pervasive voodooism is if they are firmly grounded in God’s Word and connected to a local church.
Whole churches and schools, as well as individuals, are begging for their own personal Bible. Thanks to the openness of the government, our partnership with Edu-Deo, and our local partner on the ground, inroads have been made to distribute Scripture resources to local churches, and Bibles to every child attending Christian Schools in Haiti. Through these connections, there is an opportunity to meet the spiritual poverty of Haiti, equip local believers with the means to combat the false beliefs of voodooism, and deepen faith throughout the country. The only missing piece of the puzzle is you.
