Tehillah went from room to room in a hospital in Peru with Maria and Stephanie. The three were participants of a recent GO Trip when they met Alfaro. The moment she entered his room, she could feel it. The room was filled with heavy emotions.
After a quick greeting, Tehillah discovered the reason. Alfaro shared that he was paralyzed on the right side of his body. Any time he began to feel better, the paralysis returned. His voice broke as they were speaking, and he sat down on his bed and began to cry. Through broken sobs, he said he pushed himself so hard at work, trying to make ends meet. He was convinced that was what caused the paralysis.
Tehillah, whose name is a Hebrew word meaning "glory" or "praise", sat beside him and told him something incredible. Jesus is the ultimate healer. That God is watching him. That God loves him and is keeping him safe. And that was when Alfaro made a confession.
His hospital roommate had been sharing the gospel with him recently. He had even been reading to him from the Bible. He didn’t understand it all, but now as Tehillah and the others from the GO Trip were in the room with him, something changed.
Alfaro accepted Christ as his Saviour that day. And while his journey to physical healing is still ongoing, he can be assured that his soul has been healed by the sacrifice of his God. Tehilla, indeed.
